INFIELD
The infield is a diamond area counterclockwise surrounded by home plate, first base, second base and the third base. By standards, the home plate is placed in the corner of the 90 square inches diamond area and the metered distance between bases is 90 inches. The shortstop usually will run on the place between the second base and third base.
OUTFIELD
Before we introduce the outfield, we have to tell fair territory and foul territory. From the above picture (subtle differences according to type of contests), the entire sector is fair territory, which is composed of the infield and outfield. Hence, the outfield is quite right the area outside the infield in the fair territory. Outfield is divided into left field, center field and left field according to the defensive area.
